The squeaky noise in Wimbledon

In London living in a villa in Wimbledon on the top floor we had a bed which was hidden in the wall and you pulled it down and the mattress touched the floor. One night I thought I heard a plastic bag rustled (prasslade = Swedish) in the kitchen but I was probably just imagining things. Next night I heard the same noise but I could not understand what it was. The third night I I heard a squeaking sound. It sounded like a mouse. On the top floor!? My husband left for Greece and I was alone with the "beast". I came home and it had left a "message" on my pillow...small mouse droppings. It was very elusive but soon it got used to me. I did not get used to it. When I was watching TV it ran in front of me and when I was in bed it sat by the foot of the bed in the night. I could not take it anymore! Where did it come from? Finally I figured it out it came from a gap in the wall under the wallpaper in the toilet. As soon as I saw it I had a frying pan ready to see if I could kill it but I was too slow. I could not take it anymore and moved out. The landlady accused me and said that it was my fault that the mouse was there and she kept my down payment (handpenning = Swedish) on the apartment we hired. A really expensive mouse..In the end I heard that the woman who lived on the other side of the wall in this semi-detached villa was a collector with Dirty "garbage" all over the place. So, the mouse probably came from the other side of the wall. I mean how could this be my fault!? Really!?
