My odd warm feet

In London we rented an apartment and we only had heating 3 hours in the morning and 3 hours in the evening. It was really humid and cold during the night. There were green orange and black mildew growing in the windows and it was freezing during the winter. So to keep warm what did I do?
Hot water bottles?..Socks?...No, I slept in slippers with claws.
