We were going to celebrate my mother´s 75th birthday so we rented a car so we could drive to the hotel´s restaurant. I phone in advance and said: - I would like to reserve a table for 4 people. The man answered: - No you do not need to book a table, you can just arrive, we will find a table. I was persistent as it was my mother´s birthday. - No, could I please book a table. - Ok, we have now booked a table. After a couple of days we fetched the rental car and picked up my mum and off we go. At arrival we parked the car and asked the receptionist if that was ok as we were going to eat at their restaurant. They said yes but the restaurant is closed for a wedding. What really!? She said but we have a second restaurant about 3 minutes walk from here and if you have a reservation they have surely booked you there instead. The thing is as we never wanted even to try their second restaurant but as we already were there we walked down to their second restaurant. I asked if they had a reservation for us but they did not so we sat and waited for 10 min. The waiter showed us our outdoor table and asked us what we wanted to drink and eat. 2 wine, 1 coke/coca cola and 1 glass of table water. Main courses but one person wanted a starter too. OK, so everyone got their drink except me of course which was the water. My daughter noticed a chip on the lass edge which could have injured her lip. I asked if they could give her a new glass. She got it but my water was still not visible. We asked if we could have some bread but the waiter said that the bread basked for lost! Eh, ok.....
After 30 min the basked was found and we got bread still no water. I waited 1 hour for the water and it arrived just before the food. The starter we ordered did not arrive so we asked about it and the waiter said tha the started took longer time than the main Courses so that is why we had the main courses now. The food was nothing special and tasted bland. I asked my mother if she wanted dessert but she wanted to go home. She was not impressed. So I asked for the bill. We waited and waited. We enjoyed the sun outside but wanted to go home. Finally I walked into the restaurant and demanded to pay the bill. The lady shouted to our waiter and asked something about some dishes and then she gave me the bill 2500 SEK. I thought really? So expensive. I looked at the bill and saw that we had paid for another table´s food. Oh great! I said this is not ours. She got angry with our waiter and said you told me that these were their food. She tried to reverse the bill but she failed and then she asked other staff of how to solve this and they tried and tried but failed. She said that she would talk to the manager and that they would reverse it. I paid for my own bill 1500 SEK. So this "wonderful" visit had now costed me 4000 SEK/434 Euros/363 GBP/575 USD!!! I did not believe that they would remember to pay me back so I walked up to the receptionist and demanded to speak to the hotel manager. He arrived and I told him the above story from the beginning that they did not want to reserve a table and so on. He said please follow me down again to the restaurant. Back again and he started to yell at the lady at the cashier saying- Why do you send customers up to me!? They started to argue infront of me. I was so embarrassed I could sink down into the ground. After a while they continued to argue in the kitchen. The manager appeared and said now we have reversed the money. I had given him my bills and I asked him where are bills. He said did you not get them from me? No. I Went back into the kitchen and gave them to me. He said next time you are here you can ask for me. Eh, ok. I just wanted to leave and if he really believe I am going to return he must me insane! We drove away in our rental car and we said: Well, at least we were lucky with the weather....well the money was returned after 2 days into my account. Really my worst restaurant experience!
